CE Academy’s Mission and Leadership
The mission of CE Academy is to create an English-Chinese learning community for students of all backgrounds to maximize bilingual proficiency, academic excellence, and cultural diversity awareness to help them succeed in an era of globalization.
CE Academy aims to provide K-2 students (with expanding grades later) immersive Chinese and English bilingual education to children from all racial/ethnic backgrounds and socioeconomic backgrounds in our community. The school will prepare students to grow into global citizens with academic excellence, proficiency in Mandarin Chinese and English, and intercultural communication competence.

CE Academy Board
Heli Chu (Board Chairwoman) is a computer science and management background. Since 1996, she has taught Chinese in the United States. She has worked as a teacher, director and principal at two Chinese schools. As board chairwoman, she has led CE Academy through the successful application and certification process to found the first bilingual immersion charter school in the Triangle area.
Erin Hsu (board member) received her Master’s degree in Education, and has a Teaching English for Foreign Language certificate from the University of California at Irvine. Erin is currently the Principal of Raleigh Chinese Language School and the Director of Red Apple Chinese and Math. She is also a certified teacher for K-12 students. Erin has over 15 year’s experience working at schools. She’s taught at Glenwood Elementary School, Chapel Hill High School and Carrboro High School.
Yiyi Jiang (board member) is an educator and lifelong learner. She has about 10 years’ full time teaching experience in China and the US. She has taught a variety of students, from infants to college students. She is passionate about teaching and care for her students. She always wants to explore the unknown.
Steve Niu serves is a board member of four organizations in China and USA, and is the President of Triangle Accounting, Inc.
Ellis Parks was a Charter school teacher and served National guard. He is a EC teacher as well.
Chien-Yu (Ariel) Lin
Chien-Yu (Ariel) Lin (board member) has a doctoral degree in second language education and cultures from the University of Maryland, College Park. She is an experienced educational researcher in a Chinese language teacher preparation center and a consulting firm in the DC area. After moving to North Carolina, Ariel has taught Chinese to language learners of different ages in weekend language schools.

Amy Yuan is enthusiastic about immersion education and has full experience of building up an immersion program from K-5 from scratch. She is a qualified immersion teacher training lecturer, and has worked 5+ years as a K-2 grade Mandarin Chinese immersion teacher.
